In less time than it takes to blink, satisfaction crumbled into gloom for the Richmond Kickers.
Los Angeles forward Juan Perez scored in the 88th minute off a scramble in front of the net to nudge the Blues into a 1-1 tie with the Kickers Friday night at City Stadium. Richmond was superior, at times overwhelmingly so, for much of the evening. But superiority counted for naught after Perez spun, gathered himself and fired a hard 15-yard shot past Kickers goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra. Helpless on Perez’s goal, Dykstra smothered a potential stoppage-time game winner by Los Angeles’ Chris Cortez.
