PETERSBURG -- Brandon Macklin scored 18 points and J.C. Chaney added 16 to lead Virginia State over Livingstone 70-49 Tuesday night.

Macklin was 8 of 13 from the field, and Chaney connected on 7 of 10 shots to help the Trojans (2-3 CIAA, 6-7) end their two-game skid.

In another game

  • GOUCHER 78, MARYMOUNT 64: Shaun Ingram had 20 points and Mike Gray and Sam Sentz added 10 apiece, but the Saints (5-5) fell to host Goucher (2-8).
  • WOMEN

  • VIRGINIA STATE 78, LIVINGSTONE 59: Temperance Brantley scored a season-high 16 points, and Katania Walker reached her 1,300th career point on a free throw as the Trojans (3-2 CIAA, 10-2) dominated visiting Livingstone.
  • Note

    Virginia Union men's and women's teams have made two schedule changes. The Panthers' game against Bowie State, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 20 has been moved to Jan. 22 because of the inauguration ceremonies. The games will still be played in the A.C. Jordan Arena on the campus of Bowie State. The women's game tips off at 5:30 p.m. and the men's at 7:30.

    VUU's games with Virginia State, which were scheduled for Feb. 7, have been moved to Feb. 9. The games will be played at the Siegel Center at Virginia Commonwealth University. The women's game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and the men's game at 7:30.
