Va. teen pleads guilty in attack on gay man

WASHINGTON -- Federal prosecutors say a 19-year-old Virginia resident has pleaded guilty in an attack on a gay man in Georgetown.
Ruddad Abdulgader, of Alexandria pleaded guilty today to two counts, including felony assault with bias intent. He faces up to 5-1/2 years in prison when he is sentenced in February.
According to a statement of offense, Abdulgader and another person confronted the victim and his friend on Oct. 3. The victim and his friend were subjected to homophobic remarks and tried to leave.
Prosecutors say Abdulgader, without provocation, struck the victim in the head with a glass vodka bottle, knocking him unconscious.
