A Hanover County woman was convicted of reckless driving and given a 12-month suspended sentence in a wreck last fall that killed a Virginia State Police trooper while he was directing traffic outside the State Fair of Virginia.

Angelica C. Valencia, 27, of Doswell pleaded no contest to the charge Thursday in Hanover General District Court. A judge sentenced Valencia to 12 months in jail but suspended the entire term and fined her $1,000, according to court records.
