Unity Christ Church series focuses on life enrichment

Unity Christ Church of Bon Air, 923 Buford Road, announces its seventh annual Sizzling Summer Life Enrichment Techniques series. It will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, July 10 through Aug. 28.

The programs to be presented are:

July 10 Health Promotion and Wellness As Part of Your Spiritual Path: How to Put This Into the Real World

Facilitator: Mark S. Smith, DC, DABCN, a board certified chiropractic neurologist and practitioner of functional medicine with a special interest in nutrition and chronic diseases and disorders.

Discussion will cover types of chronic pain, how to get at the underlying cause(s) and doing something effective at slowing down or stopping degenerative conditions. Smith will speak on how the latest science on brain function is used by chiropractic neurologists to improve health and well-being.

July 17 Laugh-a Yoga: Combining the Joy of Laughter and Bliss of Yoga

Facilitator: Bharata Wingham, a versatile teacher best known for teaching Laugh-a Yoga and laughing meditation. He was trained and certified by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide laughter clubs. Bharata is also an Integral Yoga instructor. The author of "An Ancient New Idea," he has written numerous articles on Laugh-a Yoga, A Course in Miracles and the Transformation of Time.

July 24 How Conscious Connected Breathing Can Heal Your Relationships

Facilitators: Ken and Renee Kizer have worked together as Spiritual Life and Breathwork coaches since 1989, specializing in personal growth and helping people create powerful relationships. They have made numerous radio and television appearances, speaking as loving-relationship experts. They are teaching faculty at Inner Visions Institute of Spiritual Development, created by Iyanla Vanzant.

July 31 Ion Cleanse Foot Bath Detoxifying the Planet 2 Feet At a Time

Facilitator: Debbie Troxell, RN, BA, Parish Nurse, MSNH, Director of Wellness for Life, has been a licensed registered nurse in Virginia for more than 14 years. Debbie's practice includes educating and guiding her clients along a path of making healthful lifestyle choices and promoting wellness. Debbie incorporates her BA in Psychology and Parish Nurse training to provide a holistic and compassionate approach to varied issues for clients.

The focus is on purifying methods, particularly the Ion Cleanse foot bath and the 10 top benefits associated with this detox method. A live demonstration of the foot bath will be observed.

Aug. 7 Living With the Angels

Facilitator: Christen McCormack, founder of Spirit School of the Intuitive Arts. Widely known for her ministry of intuitive guidance, she has been working with individuals and teaching groups for 25 years. The primary focus of her teaching has been to help her clients develop their own abilities to communicate with Spirit.

Aug. 14 The Rainbow Recipe

Facilitator: Sue Godwin, an international speaker with lectures in Madras, India. She received the Rainbow Recipe after a spiritual awakening in 1991. All of the information in the program came from the experience, intuitively, and not from any other source.

The Rainbow Recipe is a total package wellness plan for health, healing and happiness in life. It has three prioritized major ingredients: Rainbow Virtues, Rainbow Food and Rainbow Exercise, with three stages of wellness for the Mind, Spirit and Body.

Aug. 21 A Call to Remember: Navigating the Waters of Change, 2012 and Beyond

Facilitators: Carol Fitzpatrick is a modern-day mystic, author and healer who has been teaching and mentoring new paradigm leaders for the past 25 years. Her message of "follow your heart, change the world" has evolved from a grass-roots call to awaken into an international movement.

Mark Torgeson is a pianist and composer of music designed to awaken the human energy system. He creates an expression, which incites the human spirit toward greater wholeness. His albums "Between Mountains and Stars" and "Sundance in Moonlight" have aired in the U.S. and abroad, attaining top 10 playlist ratings on New Age and Adult Contemporary music stations.

Aug. 28 Creating Inner Peace: Relaxing with Tai Chi

Facilitator: Dr. Jo Lynne Robins is a nurse practitioner and assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has practiced as a nurse for more than 20 years in a variety of settings. Currently, she owns and operates Integrating Wellness Inc., a private consulting service working with individuals to develop holistic wellness plans. She has presented nationally on many topics related to complementary and alternative medicine for more than 15 years. Her research focus is psychoneuroimmunology, examining the effects of stress on neuroendocrine and immune function. She is currently teaching tai chi to women with breast cancer as part of a large National Cancer Institute clinical trial.

Tai chi was developed in China as a martial art. It has evolved into a moving meditation that teaches through breath and movement how to live in the present moment, from a grounded and centered place. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
