The Naval Intelligence Foundation (NIF) is pleased to announce the selection of Amy M. Purello of Mechanicsville, VA as the 2008 recipient of the VADM Donald Engen Scholarship.

This highly competitive scholarship provides $1,500 to support the college academic pursuits of the award recipient.

The Naval Intelligence Foundation is a tax-exempt educational and charitable foundation that sponsors awards to active duty and reserve personnel serving in intelligence assignments.

The VADM Donald Engen Scholarship is one of four scholarships awarded annually to dependents of active duty or mobilized Reservist Navy and Marine Corps officer and enlisted intelligence personnel.

Purello's sponsor is her mother, Capt. Anne M. Maliwauki, currently assigned to the Naval Reserve OSD Tech Trans 0166 command at Andrews Air Force Base, MD.

Purello impressed the NIF Scholarship Committee with her high level of academic achievement and involvement in high school activities at Richmond's St. Gertrude High School. She is also very active in fine arts programs and athletics.

She will attend the University of Mary Washington in Fredricksburg, VA, where she plans a career in the medical field.
