Juneteenth Friday events moved

Friday's events in "Juneteenth, A Freedom Celebration," have been moved.

All events initially set for the Greater Richmond Convention Center in downtown Richmond will now be held at the Hyperlink Café, 814 W. Grace St.

The activity times and cost, $15, remain the same.

Saturday's events at the Manchester Dock will proceed as planned.

Here is the schedule for two days of events.

FRIDAY

-- 7 p.m. fashion show featuring day and evening urban wear.

-- 8 p.m. panel discussion "Social Change, Hip-Hop and Election 2008" with question and answer.

-- 9 p.m. Elegba Folklore Society, dance, music and discussion.

-- 9:45 p.m. Dead Prez perform.

SATURDAY

-- 2 p.m., at Manchester Dock at Maury Street.

-- 3 p.m. Native American opening ceremonies.

-- 3 p.m. African dance community class with Master Dancer Kadiatou Conte of Guinea, West Africa. $10.

-- 5 p.m. J. Ron Fleming, storyteller

-- 6 p.m. speakers: City Councilwoman Delores L. McQuinn, chairwoman of the Slave Trail Commission; Ana Edwards, Sacred Ground Project; Brother Manifest, Happily Natural Day organizer.

-- 6:30 p.m. hip-hop performance. Group to be announced.

-- 7:15 p.m. Elegba Folklore Society, dance, music and discussion.

-- 8 p.m. torch-lit walk along the Richmond Slave Trail.

-- 11 p.m. healing ceremony at the burial ground for Negroes.
