“This is one of our best print campaigns in 20 years – I’m reaching the person I was trying to reach."Jeffrey Samuels Owner, William Jeffrey's
“We are a fashion-forward jewelry store,” explained Jeffrey Samuels, owner of William Jeffrey’s. As such, the store is “looking for customers who line up” with that image, Samuels said, adding that the newspaper has been an ideal platform to reach his audience and to “show the diversity of products in a relatively inexpensive yet effective way.”
William Jeffrey’s has an ongoing campaign that utilizes Richmond Chic and display ads in alternating weeks. Chic is a feature that promotes specific products as supplied by advertisers, typically four blurbs with product details, descriptions and pricing information. The in-house photographer goes on location each week to shoot these items; graphic designer Gina Denniston writes the creative copy, including catchy headlines. She also designs the page to maximize visual interest and grab the readers’ attention.
“I’m a very results-oriented advertiser,” Samuels relayed. “When clients come in the door and complete their transactions, my staff is required to input a field that asks ‘What brought you into the store today?’ The newspaper is a choice that I can track by dollars.”
So, how is the RTD measuring up in revenue results at this family-owned jewelry store?
“I’m very satisfied,” Samuels affirmed. “This is one of our best print campaigns in 20 years – I’m reaching the person I was trying to reach. I feel really good about being in the newspaper; it’s a great use of ad space. People – women and men – are reading the paper, front to back. And I also want to add that graphic designer Gina Denniston deserves much of the kudos. She goes head and shoulders above the call of duty and deserves a great deal of the credit.”
